The Bossy Little Girl Who Learned to be Kind
Dixie was a spunky little girl with an opinion about everything. She had beautiful brown hair that she always wore in pigtails and big brown eyes that sparkled with mischief. Her parents, however, knew her all too well - and knew how much trouble her spirited nature could get her into.
One day, while playing with her toys, Dixie decided she was the boss. She lined up all her stuffed animals and began to give them orders, "you, Mr. Penguin, go make me a sandwich, and you, Miss Bear, tidy up the room!" she declared.
Her mother heard her from the other room and gently warned her, "Dixie, just because you're the boss of your toys doesn't mean you're the boss of everything."
But Dixie was determined to show her mother she knew best and continued to boss her toys around. She even tried to boss her baby brother, Slade, telling him to stop crying. Her parents reminded her that she needed to listen to her parents, but Dixie was too caught up in her own world.
That afternoon, her parents took her to a playground. Dixie was thrilled and ran off to play. She felt like she was the queen of the playground - and she acted like it too. She pushed to the front of the line, yelled at other children to move out of her way, and even took toys that didn't belong to her.
Gabe, a new boy at the playground, watched Dixie's behaviour from a distance. He was shy and didn't know how to make friends, but he knew he didn't want to play with someone who acted that way.
As the day wore on, however, Dixie's behaviour began to catch up with her. She was bossy, but not very fun to be around, and before long, she wound up alone.
It was then that Gabe approached her and asked if she wanted to play a game with him. At first, Dixie was hesitant - he wasn't one of the 'cool' kids, after all. But Dixie eventually realized that Gabe was a kind person and she was lucky to have him as a friend.
Suddenly, Dixie didn't feel like the boss of anything anymore. She learned the valuable lesson that sometimes, being a good leader means being a good listener, too. And most importantly, she learned that being kind and respectful was the best way to make friends.
From that day forward, Dixie always made sure to listen to her parents and treat others with kindness - because she knew that was what being a true boss was all about.
