The Joy of Sharing: Malachi, Kalila, and Sofia's Story

Malachi and Kalila are two best friends who live in colorful houses in the village of Belmont on the beautiful island of St. Vincent. They love playing together and learning new things every day. Every morning, they go to a small school near the big plum tree.

Malachi is a happy boy who loves to share his toys. Kalila is a kind girl who enjoys helping her friends. One day, a new girl named Sofia joined their class. Sofia didn’t know how to share and often took toys away from other children without asking.

During playtime, Sofia took Malachi’s favorite toy car without asking. Malachi felt sad and went off to sit by himself. He didn’t want to play anymore. Kalila saw what happened and decided to talk to Sofia about what she did.

“Hey Sofia,” she said softly, “it’s important to ask before taking a toy away from someone.”

Sofia looked puzzled. She frowned and said, “I don’t like asking.”

Kalila explained, “When we ask and share, everyone gets to have fun together.”

The next day, Sofia saw Kalila playing with her favorite teddy bear. Remembering Kalila’s words, Sofia asked, “Can I play with your teddy bear too?” Kalila smiled and said sure, let’s play together. They took turns playing with the teddy bear.

Sofia then went to Malachi and asked, “Can we play with your car together?” Malachi’s face lit up with a big smile. Sofia and Malachi started playing together. Sofia realized that sharing made playing more fun.

Kalila saw Sofia sharing and said, “See, when we share, we make friends and everyone is happy.” Sofia nodded and felt proud of herself.

From that day on, Sofia always remembered to ask before taking a toy and to share with her friends. She learned that sharing brings happiness and makes everyone feel included.
