Pagong and Matsing: A Tale of Friendship and Trust

Pagong and Matsing were good friends who lived in the forest. One day, they decided to plant some gabi (taro) seeds together. Pagong said, "I will take care of the seeds during the day, and you, Matsing, will guard them at night." Matsing agreed, and they started to plant the seeds.

Every day, Pagong would carefully water the seeds and make sure they were getting enough sunlight. And every night, Matsing would sit by the seeds to protect them from any animals that might try to eat them.

One day, Pagong noticed that some of the seeds were missing. He asked Matsing if he had seen anything strange during the night, but Matsing just shook his head and said no. Pagong felt sad and worried. He couldn't understand why the seeds were disappearing.

As the days went by, more and more seeds went missing. Pagong started to feel like he couldn't trust Matsing anymore. He decided to stay up one night to see if he could catch the thief.

To his surprise, he saw Matsing sneak over to the seeds and take some for himself. Pagong felt very hurt and angry. He asked Matsing why he had betrayed their friendship and stolen the seeds. Matsing felt very sorry and ashamed. He apologized to Pagong and promised to make things right.

Together, they planted new seeds, and this time, Matsing took his turn to take care of them during the day, while Pagong guarded them at night. They worked together to make sure the seeds grew strong and healthy.

From that day on, Pagong and Matsing learned the importance of honesty, trust, and the consequences of betrayal. They realized that working together and being honest with each other was the best way to be good friends. And their gabi seeds grew into beautiful plants that they could both enjoy.
