Billy's Big Heart for a Cleaner Beach
Billy loved going to the beach with his family. He loved building sandcastles, collecting seashells, and splashing in the waves. But one day, as he was playing in the sand, he noticed something that made him sad. There were plastic bottles, bags, and wrappers scattered all along the shore.
Billy's mom noticed his frown and asked him what was wrong. Billy pointed to the plastic trash and said, "Why do people leave their trash at the beach, Mom? It's not good for the animals or the earth."
His mom smiled and gave him a hug. "You're right, Billy. Plastic pollution is a big problem. It's not good for the ocean, the animals, or even our own health. But we can do something about it."
That night, Billy's mom read him a story from the Bible. She told him about how God created the earth and everything in it, and how he wants us to take care of it. She also shared a verse with him from Psalm 24:1, which says, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it."
Billy thought about what his mom had told him, and the next day, he decided to take action. He asked his friends to join him in cleaning up the beach. They brought gloves and trash bags, and together, they picked up all the plastic waste they could find.
As they worked, Billy thought about another verse his mom had shared with him, from Genesis 2:15, which says, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."
After they finished cleaning up, Billy and his friends felt proud of what they had done. They knew they had made a difference, even if it was just a small one.
From that day on, whenever Billy went to the beach, he made sure to pick up any plastic trash he saw. He also talked to his friends and family about the importance of taking care of the earth.
One day, Billy's efforts caught the attention of a local environmental group. They invited him to join their beach clean-up events and to help spread awareness about plastic pollution. Billy was excited to be a part of something bigger than himself.
As he continued to learn about the impact of plastic pollution on the earth and its inhabitants, he remembered another verse from the Bible that his mom had shared with him, from Isaiah 24:5, which says, "The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant."
Billy realized that by taking care of the earth, he was honoring the covenant that God had made with all living things. He was determined to continue making a difference and to inspire others to do the same. And with the help of his friends and family, he knew that they could make a big impact together.
