The Curious Case of the Missing Acorn Basket

One sunny morning in the forest, Nia the little bear stretched her paws and yawned. Today felt like an adventure day! Her best buddy, Mac, a big friendly dog, wagged his tail as they strolled through the trees.

Suddenly, they heard sniffling. Benny the beaver sat by the river, looking very sad. “What’s wrong, Benny?” Nia asked, tilting her fuzzy head.

“My acorn basket is missing!” Benny cried. “I use it to collect acorns for everyone in the forest. It’s very special to me.”

“Don’t worry, Benny,” Mac said. “We’ll help you find it!”

Nia and Mac searched for clues. Near Benny’s favorite tree, Nia noticed tiny scratches on the ground. “Hmm,” she said, pointing. “These look like little footprints.”

They followed the trail until they found Willow the squirrel munching on a nut. “Willow, did you see anyone with Benny’s basket?” Nia asked.

Willow nodded. “I saw someone running toward the flower patch early this morning! Good luck!” she chirped.

At the flower patch, Nia sniffed the air. Mac’s ears perked up. “Do you hear that?” he asked.

“Who-who’s there?” hooted Ollie the owl from a nearby tree. “I heard rustling sounds near the old log before sunrise.”

“Thanks, Ollie!” Nia said, dashing toward the log.

Behind it, they spotted Pippa the raccoon. She was stacking shiny rocks into… Benny’s basket! “Pippa!” Nia called. “That’s Benny’s special basket. He’s been so worried!”

Pippa’s striped tail drooped. “Oh no, I didn’t know it was so important. I just needed something to hold my shiny rocks.”

Nia smiled gently. “Maybe next time, you can ask first.”

Pippa nodded. Together, they carried the basket back to Benny. “I’m sorry, Benny,” Pippa said. “I didn’t mean to upset you.”

Benny smiled. “It’s okay. Want to share some acorns?”

Everyone laughed and shared a snack, feeling happy and kind. Nia beamed—she loved helping her friends!
