Beru and Dot: The Case of the Missing Rainbow Sock
**Beru and the Mysterious Missing Sock**
One sunny morning, Dot was getting dressed when he noticed something very strange.
“Hey! Where’s my rainbow sock?” he said, holding up just one lonely sock. It was his favorite pair, with bright stripes in every color. He looked around the room, under his bed, and even behind the laundry basket, but the sock was nowhere to be found.
Beru, Dot’s rottweiler and best friend, trotted over, wagging his tail. “Beru, my sock is missing! Let’s solve the mystery!” Dot said excitedly. Beru barked and did a happy spin. They were officially “super sleuths” now.
First, they searched under the couch in the living room. Beru stuck his nose under and gave a sniff. No sock, but they did find something else.
“Mom’s slipper!” Dot exclaimed. He placed it on the table so they could give it back to her later.
Next, they checked Polka’s toy basket. Polka was their pet parrot, and her basket was always full of colorful toys. Beru nosed around and pulled something out.
“Polka’s stuffed banana!” Dot laughed. “We’ve been looking for this forever!” He set it aside for Polka.
Finally, they went out to the backyard. Dot crouched by the flowers while Beru sniffed near the garden shed. “Do you see it, Beru?” Dot asked.
Beru trotted over to his dog bed, grabbed something with his teeth, and wagged his tail.
“My rainbow sock!” Dot cried. It was crumpled up in Beru’s cozy bed. “Beru! Did you think this was a toy?”
Beru gave a happy bark and licked Dot’s face.
Dot laughed. “Well, I guess everyone makes mistakes. But look at all the things we found! We’re a great team.”
Beru woofed in agreement, and they ran inside together, ready to return all the treasures they’d found.
Teamwork made everything more fun—even solving mysteries.
