Eddie the Elephant Learns to Stay Calm
Eddie the elephant was a big, strong, and sometimes grumpy elephant. Whenever he got angry, he would stomp around and start hitting things, like trees and rocks. Sometimes he even accidentally hit his friends and family. His friends would try to talk to him, but he would just get even more cross.
One day, after accidentally knocking over his best friend, Rosie the rhinoceros, Eddie realised that he needed to do something about his bad moods. He didn’t want to hurt anyone, but he just couldn’t seem to control himself when he got angry.
So, Eddie went to see his wise old grandma, Granny Elsie. She listened to Eddie’s worries and then told him a story about a time when she had been just like him. She explained how she had learned to recognise when she was feeling angry and how she had found ways to calm down and think more clearly before she reacted.
Eddie thought about what Granny Elsie had said and decided to give it a try. The next time he felt himself getting angry, he took a deep breath and counted to ten. He also started talking to his friends and family about how he was feeling, instead of just getting cross.
At first, it was hard for Eddie to control his temper, but little by little he started to notice a change. His friends and family were much happier to be around him and he felt happier too. He didn’t like being in a bad mood all the time and was glad that he had found a way to feel better.
With the help of his friends and Granny Elsie, Eddie started to understand that it was okay to feel angry, but it was important to find healthy ways to deal with those feelings. He found that talking to someone about how he was feeling, taking deep breaths, and going for a walk helped him to calm down when he was feeling cross.
Eddie also realised that his friends and family were much happier to be around him when he wasn’t in a bad mood. They were glad that he was taking better care of himself and that he was working on his emotions. Eddie felt proud of himself and was grateful for the support of his loved ones.
From then on, Eddie worked hard to control his temper and found that he felt much happier and more at peace. He also learned that it was important to talk to someone when he was feeling overwhelmed. He was grateful for the love and patience of his friends and family and knew that he was lucky to have them in his life.
