# Morris Mouse's First Day at Work

Morris Mouse straightened his tiny red tie and smoothed down his whiskers. Today was a very big day indeed—his first day working at Cheese Corner Shop!

"You'll do brilliantly," said Mum, packing an extra bit of cheddar into his lunchbox.

"Remember to smile," said Dad, giving Morris's tail a gentle pat.

Morris scurried down Acorn Avenue, his little heart going pitter-patter with excitement. The shop bell tinkled as he pushed open the door.

"Welcome!" boomed Mr Whiskers, the shop owner. His magnificent grey whiskers curled at the ends. "Ready to learn all about cheese?"

Morris nodded eagerly.

"First job—stack these cheese wheels on the shelf."

Morris tried his very best, but the wheels were so big and round. They kept rolling away! One wheel rolled right across the floor.

"Oh dear," whispered Morris, his ears drooping.

Then he had an idea. He found some tiny wooden blocks and placed them carefully on the shelf. Now when he put the cheese wheels down, they stayed perfectly still!

"Clever thinking!" said Mr Whiskers.

Next, Morris had to help customers. A tall giraffe had to bend down very low to speak to him. A tiny ant was so quiet Morris could hardly hear.

"I need a solution," thought Morris.

He found a little stepladder to stand on for tall customers, and a special listening trumpet for quiet ones.

By lunchtime, Morris had solved three more problems all by himself!

"You're a natural," said Mr Whiskers, sharing a special cheese sandwich with Morris.

That evening, Morris scampered home with a spring in his step and a piece of cheese in his pocket—a present from Mr Whiskers.

"How was your first day?" asked Mum and Dad together.

Morris grinned, whiskers twitching with pride. "It was the best day ever—and I can't wait for tomorrow!"
