# Morris Mouse's First Day at Work

Morris Mouse straightened his tiny red tie and brushed his whiskers. Today was his very first day at Cheese & Co.

"You'll be brilliant," said Mum, handing him a lunch box. "Just remember to smile."

Morris's tummy felt all wiggly as he scurried down Mouse Lane. The tall grass swayed above his head like green skyscrapers.

When he arrived at the big oak tree, Morris took a deep breath and pushed open the acorn door. Inside, mice in smart clothes rushed about carrying bits of paper and tiny pencils.

"Hello! You must be Morris," squeaked a grey mouse with glasses. "I'm Miss Whisker, your boss. Follow me."

Morris's desk was a matchbox with a thimble chair. On top sat a paperclip, some string, and a note that said: "Please sort the cheese inventory."

But Morris didn't know how to start. The cheese room had mountains of yellow, white and blue cheese pieces, all jumbled together.

"Oh dear," whispered Morris. His paws began to sweat.

Then he had an idea. He could sort them by colour!

Morris worked all morning, making neat piles of yellow cheddar, white brie, and blue cheese.

At lunchtime, a friendly mouse called Pip peeked in. "Wow! You've done a brilliant job."

Miss Whisker was pleased too. "Excellent work, Morris! Now customers can find exactly what they want."

That evening, Morris scampered home with a big smile.

"How was your first day?" asked Mum.

"It was scary at first," said Morris, "but I solved a problem all by myself!"

Mum gave him a hug. "I knew you would."

Morris fell asleep that night dreaming of tomorrow's adventures at Cheese & Co., not feeling scared anymore.
