Bertie's Flying Adventure to the Zoo

Bertie the Bus wasn't like the other buses. Bertie was BRIGHT RED and shiny, of course, but he also had a secret: Bertie was magic! He could fly!

One sunny morning, little Lily and her best friend, Tom, were waiting at the bus stop. They were going to see the monkeys at the zoo. "Oh, I hope Bertie comes soon!" Lily said, bouncing on her toes.

Suddenly, Bertie zoomed around the corner, his little brass bell ringing a cheerful 'Ding-a-ling!'. Mrs. Bumble, the friendly bus driver with bright pink glasses, opened the doors. "Hop on board, you two!" she chirped.

Lily and Tom climbed onto the comfy seats. But as Bertie pulled away from the stop, something strange happened. He started to wobble. Then, he lifted off the ground!

"We're flying!" Tom shouted, pointing out the window. Houses looked like tiny building blocks below.

"Oh dear!" said Mrs. Bumble, fiddling with the steering wheel. "I think Bertie's magic is a little… wonky today!"

Bertie swooped and swerved. He nearly bumped into a cloud shaped like a giant sheep! Lily started to giggle, but Tom looked worried. "We'll never get to see the monkeys!" he cried.

Lily had an idea. "Mrs. Bumble," she said, "Bertie likes singing! Maybe if we sing a song, it will help him fly properly!"

Mrs. Bumble smiled. "That's a splendid idea, Lily!"

So, Lily, Tom, and Mrs. Bumble started to sing "The Wheels on the Bus" as loud as they could.

*The wheels on the bus go round and round, Round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round, All through the town!*

As they sang, Bertie started to fly straighter. The wobbles stopped, and he soared smoothly through the air. Soon, they could see the zoo in the distance.

Bertie landed gently right outside the monkey enclosure. "Hooray!" shouted Lily and Tom. They ran off to see the cheeky monkeys, chattering and swinging from the trees, all thanks to Bertie and a very catchy song!
