The Secret Door in the Garden

One quiet night, a little boy lay in bed. He heard soft giggles coming from his garden. He sat up, curious. What was making that funny sound?

The boy tiptoed out to his garden in his blue pyjamas. The moon was big and bright. He saw something amazing! The tall, yellow sunflowers were shaking with laughter. The red and pink roses wiggled their leaves. Round, smooth pebbles bounced up and down like tiny rabbits.

“Hello?” whispered the boy. The flowers giggled and giggled. Suddenly, a tiny door appeared at the bottom of the old oak tree. It glowed with warm, golden light.

The boy crouched down and opened the little door. Inside, it was cosy and magical. He crawled through and found a hidden world under the roots. The ground was soft and mossy. Tiny root sprites—like little people made of twigs and leaves—were waiting for him.

“Welcome!” said the sprites. “Our glow-moss has stopped shining, and now our home is too dark and sad.”

The boy smiled. He had an idea! He turned on his small torch. The beam of light danced around the roots. Soon, he saw the missing glow-moss curled up in a shadowy corner.

“There you are!” the boy said kindly. He carried the glow-moss back to the sprites. When the glow-moss felt safe, it began to shine again, bright and green.

The sprites cheered. “Thank you! Will you come visit us again?”

The boy nodded. He crawled back through the little door. In the garden, the flowers and pebbles waved goodbye.

The boy smiled all the way to bed, dreaming of giggling flowers and glowing moss.
