David’s First Day Shine: A New Job and New Confidence

David was a young adult with autism, and he was getting ready to go to work for the first time. He was feeling a little nervous, but also excited to start his new job. His boss, Mr. Johnson, greeted him with a big smile when he arrived at the office.

"Welcome to our team, David!" Mr. Johnson said. "I'm so glad to have you here."

David felt happy to hear those words. He met his coworker, Lily, who was very friendly and kind. She showed him around the office and taught him how to do his job. David listened carefully and tried his best to remember everything she said.

As the day went on, David started to feel more and more comfortable at work. He was good at his job, and he was proud of himself for doing so well.

At lunchtime, David sat with Lily and a few other coworkers. They chatted and laughed, and David felt like he was a part of the team.

When the workday was over, Mr. Johnson called David into his office. David felt a little worried. What if he had done something wrong?

"David, I just wanted to tell you that you did a great job today," Mr. Johnson said. "I can see that you are a hard worker, and I'm happy to have you on our team."

David's face lit up with a big smile. He felt so proud of himself. He realized that even though he had autism, he could work just like everyone else.

From that day on, David went to work with a positive attitude. He knew that he was a valuable member of the team, and he was grateful for the opportunity to show everyone what he could do. And he knew that he could work, just like anyone else.
