Maria's Magical Dress Rescue

This is Maria from Mexico,

An 8-year-old ready to go,

To a Quinceañera, hip, hip hooray!

Her cousin, Carlita, is fifteen today.

Into the church, a very special place.

The church is filled with a dim candle glow,

Then Carlita walks in, so soft and slow.

The priest gives blessings kind and grand,

Carlita is grateful, wiping tears with her hand.

At last, the ceremony ends,

Everyone rushes to be with their friends.

The party starts the crowds in place,

Everyone is dancing with so much grace.

Underneath the upbeat mariachi tunes,

Carlita is hiding behind the balloons.

She’s by herself, and she look distressed,

“This gown is too tight, I feel so pressed.”

Carlita tries to dance but cannot move,

Her feet refuse to find the groove.

Maria begins to worry, this is a disaster,

She needs to help and do it faster!

Maria looks around and gets an idea,

A rack of sparkly dresses shining near.

“A flowing gown is exactly what Carlita needs!”

“If I bring this to her, she will succeed.”

As Maria returns, the new dress in hand,

She sees Carlita waltz out of time with the band.

She stumbles once then trips once more,

Her dancing is painful, she's as stiff as a door!

Maria leads Carlita out of sight,

Into the shadows of the colourful lights.

A desperate quick change is what she requires,

“if you put this dress on, you’ll fulfill your desires!”

Carlita puts on the dress with a grateful smile,

She twirls and dances with effortless style.

The party comes alive with joy and cheer,

Carlita’s happiness is so clear.

Maria beams with pride at her cousin’s grace,

As they dance together in the special place.

A celebration of family, love, and fun,
