Two Sisters, Two Cultures, One Heart
Ahaana and Mira were two sisters who lived in Norway. They loved their home country and were excited to celebrate Norwegian National Day on the 17th of May. They woke up early and put on their beautiful bunads, which are traditional Norwegian dresses.
They joined the parade and waved the Norwegian flag as they walked through the city. They sang songs and cheered with everyone else. Ahaana felt proud to be Norwegian, but she also remembered that her family was originally from Sri Lanka. She was proud of her Sri Lankan heritage too.
As they walked, Ahaana and Mira saw people from many different countries. Some were wearing traditional clothes and dancing to their own music. Ahaana thought it was amazing to see how everyone celebrated their own culture, just like she celebrated being Norwegian and Sri Lankan.
After the parade, Ahaana and Mira went to a big park where there were games and food stalls. Ahaana spotted a stall selling Sri Lankan food, and she was so happy. She tried some delicious curry and rice, and she felt connected to her heritage in a special way.
As the day came to an end, Ahaana and Mira went home with their family. Ahaana looked at the Norwegian flag hanging in their living room and felt proud. She also thought about the beautiful colours of the Sri Lankan flag and felt proud of that too.
Ahaana and Mira learned that it's wonderful to celebrate their Norwegian identity, but it's also important to remember and honour their heritage from Sri Lanka. They learned that they could love and celebrate both. It was a great day full of happiness, celebration, and love for their two beautiful cultures.
