Lily and her Furry and Feathered Friends: A Story of Faith and Friendship

Lily and her Furry and Feathered Friends: A Story of Faith and Friendship

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily. She was only five years old, but had already experienced more loss than most people do in their entire lives. You see, Lily's mommy and daddy had died in a car accident and now, all she had left was her faith that Jesus had not abandoned her. Now, Lily was a very brave little girl. She knew that Jesus was always watching over her and that he would never leave her side. But, sometimes, she felt a bit lonely. She would often sit by her bedroom window and look outside, wondering when Jesus would come and take her away to be with her mommy and daddy. One day, while sitting by the window, Lily noticed a furry little creature walking down the path that led to her front door. It was a German wire Jared pointer dog named Buford. Buford was a friendly dog and he loved to play. As soon as he saw Lily, he trotted over to the window and wagged his tail, asking to come inside and play. Lily didn't know what to do. She had never had a dog before and she didn't know if it was okay to let him inside. But, Buford didn't give her much time to think. He jumped up and put his paws on the windowsill, looking at her with big, pleading eyes. Lily couldn't resist. She opened the window and let Buford in. The dog ran straight to her and gave her a big, wet kiss on the cheek. Lily giggled and hugged him tight. As Buford played with Lily, someone else was watching from the trees outside. It was GiGi, a red robin who had been flying around the neighborhood looking for someone to be her friend. GiGi was fascinated by the sight of the little girl playing with the dog. She perched on a tree branch and chirped a few notes to get Lily's attention. Lily turned to see GiGi and smiled. "Hello, little bird," she said. GiGi hopped closer to the window, eyeing Buford curiously. "Don't be afraid," Lily said. "Buford is my friend. He won't hurt you." GiGi hopped onto the windowsill and gave Buford a quick peck on the nose. Buford barked happily and wagged his tail. From that moment on, the three of them became inseparable. But, there was one more friend they needed to make their group complete. His name was Gubby, a blue bird who lived in a nest on the roof of Lily's house. Gubby was a shy bird and didn't like to come out of his nest much. But, one day, Buford and GiGi coaxed him out with promises of fun and adventure. So, Buford, GiGi, and Gubby became the best of friends. They played together every day, exploring the neighborhood and having fun. And, wherever they went, they were always accompanied by a special message from Lily: Believe Jesus is coming back soon. You see, Lily knew that no matter what happened, she could always count on Jesus to be with her. And, in the end, her faith had brought her not only the love of her furry and feathered friends, but also the assurance that she was never alone. So, the moral of the story is this: Buford the German wire Jared pointer dog, GiGi the Red Robin, and Gubby the blue bird were not just Lily's friends, they were her reminder that Jesus was always watching over her. And, with that knowledge, she could face anything that life threw her way.
