Lexia Core 5: A Doggone Frustrating Program

Lexia Core 5: A Doggone Frustrating Program

In a small town, there was a boy named Max. Max was a happy-go-lucky boy who loved to play outside, read books, and spend time with his friends. However, Max had a big problem- he hated Lexia Core 5, the online reading program that his teacher made him use every day.

Every time Max's teacher asked him to grab his Chromebook and go on Lexia, he felt frustrated and angry. He would throw his computer on the ground and break it into a million pieces. Max's hatred for Lexia Core 5 grew so strong that he even made up a song about it.

♪♫ Oh, Lexia Core 5, how I despise your name There's nothing else in this world that brings me such shame I'd rather climb Mount Everest or swim with a shark Than to sit down and do Lexia each day after dark ♪♫

Max thought he was the only one who felt this way until one day, he overheard his classmates talking about their struggles with Lexia too. One girl complained that the stories were too hard, and another boy said he didn't like doing it because it made his eyes hurt.

Suddenly, Max didn't feel so alone in his Lexia hating world. He figured if other people were struggling too, there must be something wrong with the program.

Max decided he needed to speak up and tell his teacher how he felt. So, he wrote a note explaining his frustrations and stuck it in his Chromebook's case.

The next day, his teacher pulled him aside to talk about the note. Max explained to her that he didn't like Lexia because it was too hard for him, and he didn't understand the stories.

His teacher was surprised and said Max wasn't the only one who struggled with the program. She offered to work with him on Lexia and help him understand the stories better.

Max couldn't believe it. He never thought to ask for help before. The very next day, he went to his Lexia lesson, and it didn't feel as hard as before. With his teacher's guidance, he began to understand the stories better, and he even started to like Lexia a little bit.

Max learned that it's okay to ask for help when you're struggling with something, and he learned that just because he didn't like something at first, it didn't mean he couldn't learn to love it with help.

From that day forward, Max no longer hated Lexia Core 5. Instead, he saw it as a tool to help him become a better reader. And whenever he felt frustrated or stuck, he knew he could ask his teacher or his classmates for help.

The moral of the story is that it's okay to ask for help when you're struggling with something. There's no shame in admitting you don't know the answer or need assistance with something. Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of help to get past the tough parts and move forward.
