Scarlett and the Magical Sheep Dreamland
Scarlett had a problem. She couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard she tried. Every night before bedtime, she would sit in her crib, staring up at the ceiling, trying to imagine sheep. The more she pictured them, the more she felt sleepy.
Her mummy and daddy knew something was amiss and decided to take her to see the doctor. When the doctor asked Scarlett what made her so sleepy, she replied, "Imagine sheep, doctor! They make me feel so sleepy."
The doctor looked at Scarlett and then at her mummy and daddy. "Well," he said, "I think I know what's wrong. It's the magic of the night, Scarlett. The enchantment of the stars. The mystery of the moon. The magic of the sheep."
Scarlett's eyes grew wide with wonder. She had never thought of it that way before. "Really?" she said. "Then what can I do to make myself fall asleep?"
The doctor smiled at Scarlett. "Imagine sheep, Scarlett," he said. "Imagine them running through the fields at night. Imagine the soft glow of the moonlight on their coats. Imagine the sound of their bleating as they graze. Imagine this, Scarlett, and I promise you, you will soon be dreaming of nothing but sheep!"
So every night, Scarlett closed her eyes and imagined sheep. She pictured them grazing, running, and even sleeping. Before long, she was dreaming of nothing but sheep. Her mummy and daddy couldn't believe it, but Scarlett was sleeping soundly every night.
But one night, something different happened. Scarlett was dreaming about sheep when she heard a strange sound. It was a sound she had never heard before. It was a sound that made her heart race. It was a sound that made her open her eyes.
She looked around the room but couldn't see anything unusual. She closed her eyes again and tried to imagine sheep, but this time, she heard the sound again. This time, she heard it more clearly. It was a sound like...squeak squeak squeak...squeak squeak squeak...squeak squeak squeak.
Scarlett's eyes widened. She knew that sound. It was the sound of a little mouse running around in the night. She opened her mouth to scream, but before she could make a sound, the mouse ran across her face.
Scarlett was so surprised that she laughed. She laughed so hard that she almost fell out of bed. She laughed so hard that she forgot all about sheep and dreamed about mice.
When she woke up the next morning, she couldn't believe it. She had dreamed about mice. She had dreamed about playing with them, feeding them, and even sleeping with them. It was the first time she had ever dreamed about something other than sheep.
From that day on, Scarlett didn't just imagine sheep. She imagined mice, birds, flowers, and even dinosaurs. She imagined them all day long and felt happier than ever before.
The moral of the story? Imagine sheep, Scarlett. Your dreams will follow.
