Lila, Monkey Key, and Jessie's Chocolate Picnic
Lila loved chocolate. She loved chocolate bars, chocolate cakes, and especially chocolate ice cream. She loved the way it melted in her mouth and made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Her best friends were Monkey Key and Jessie the cat, who loved chocolate almost as much as she did.
One sunny day, Lila and her friends decided to have a picnic in the park. Lila had packed her favorite chocolate cake, Monkey Key had brought bananas, and Jessie had brought a tin of tuna. As they settled down on their blanket, Lila unveiled her cake with a flourish. It was a work of art, with chocolate icing and chocolate chips on top.
"Wow," said Monkey Key, his eyes wide. "That cake looks amazing."
"I know," said Lila, beaming with pride. "I made it myself."
"I can't wait to try it," said Jessie excitedly.
Lila cut a slice of cake and handed it to Monkey Key. He took a bite and closed his eyes in bliss.
"Mm, this is delicious," he said.
"Yes, it is," agreed Lila. "Would you like another slice?"
But before Monkey Key could answer, Jessie pounced on the cake and started devouring it.
"Hey!" protested Monkey Key, looking crestfallen.
"Jessie!" scolded Lila. "You should ask before taking someone else's food."
Jessie looked up guiltily, her mouth still full of cake.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled.
"It's okay," said Lila with a sigh. "But next time, ask first, okay?"
Jessie nodded, looking chastened.
As Lila cut herself a slice of cake, she noticed that Monkey Key still looked sad. She could tell he really wanted another slice, but didn't want to be greedy.
"Hey, Monkey Key," she said. "Do you want to share the rest of the cake with me?"
Monkey Key's face lit up.
"Yes, please!" he said eagerly.
So Lila and Monkey Key shared the rest of the cake, taking turns with the fork. Jessie watched them with interest, but didn't try to snatch any more cake.
As they packed up their picnic, Lila couldn't help feeling proud of herself. Sharing had made her happy, and she knew it had made her friends happy too.
The moral of the story is:
When you share, everybody gets to enjoy the special things in life - just like Lila, Monkey Key, and Jessie did with their yummy chocolate cake.
