Sabryna's Silent Joy: A Selective Mutism Tale
In a small town nestled in the heart of the countryside, there lived a ten-year-old girl named Sabryna. Sabryna was a kind-hearted, intelligent and curious girl, but there was a problem she faced. You see, Sabryna had selective mutism, a condition that made it hard for her to speak in certain situations.
Despite this, Sabryna never let her condition hold her back. She was always eager to learn new things, making her a beloved student at school. Her teachers would often comment on how sharp she was, saying that she would go far in life.
One day, Sabryna's school announced that they were holding a poetry contest. Students would be given the opportunity to share their original poems in front of the entire school, and the winner would receive a trophy.
Sabryna was thrilled. She had always loved writing poetry and felt that this was the perfect opportunity for her to share her creations with others. However, her selective mutism made her hesitant to participate, and she wasn't sure if she would be able to share her poems on stage.
Days passed, and the poetry contest grew closer. Sabryna grew more anxious as she tried to overcome her worries. She practiced her poems in front of her parents and siblings but didn't feel confident enough to practice in front of her classmates.
One morning, Sabryna walked into the school grounds, and her friends Emily and Liam ran over to her. They both held up their hands, indicating their support for Sabryna, and sang loudly off-key in Sabryna's ear, “Sabryna, you can do it!”
Sabryna smiles at them, took a deep breath, and found the courage to walk towards the contest stage, heart thundering in her chest.
Once on stage, Sabryna froze. She couldn't bring herself to speak. Her mind went blank, and her legs wobbled. Suddenly, a funny thought crossed her mind, and she chuckled. She realized that the silence was much better than everyone laughing if she messed up her poems.
Sabryna took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She imagined herself standing on top of a mountain, shouting her favorite poem out to the world. Slowly, she opened her mouth and began to recite her poem.
"Trees dance in a mystical way as if they have come to life,
Birds sing melodiously, chirping, chirping, chirping,
Dandelions sway gently in the breeze,
Hummingbirds fly elegantly and gracefully,
Nature is magic. It is diverse and beautiful."
The audience was entranced. Sabryna’s voice was soft and kind, and her words were powerful. When she reached the end of her winning poem, the crowd erupted into cheers and cheers, the angels in heaven were singing in harmony.
Sabryna’s friends came over to hug her, bouncing her up and down in the air. Sabryna laughed with joy and pride, excited about what she had accomplished.
The moral of the story is that Sabryna did a great job because she believed in her abilities, which made her confident enough to share her talent in public. No matter how big or small the challenge is, always have faith in yourself, and you will go far in life.
The End
