Mono's Glow-in-the-Dark Mischief

Mono's Monkey Business

Mono had always been a curious monkey. He loved to explore the jungle and play tricks on his fellow animals. He would swing from tree to tree, dodge the snakes and climb the highest mountains to get a better look at the view. However, there was one thing Mono had never experienced – the dark!

One day, after exploring a new part of the jungle for hours, Mono realized the sun was setting and he had lost his way. The darkness slowly engulfed him, and he began to panic. Mono didn't know what to do! He had never been lost in the dark before.

Then he remembered his flashlight and quickly reached for it, but to his surprise, he had forgotten to pack it! Mono felt his heart drop, and the darkness seemed to get even darker. He was completely alone in the middle of the jungle, in the pitch black.

Suddenly, Mono saw a flicker of light in the distance. He felt hopeful and scampered towards it. When he arrived, he saw Lucy Lizard, illuminated by her nightlight. "Oh, thank goodness, I found you! I'm lost in the dark," Mono said with relief.

Lucy Lizard looked at Mono with a stern face and said, "Silly monkey, always remember to bring a flashlight with you when exploring the jungle, especially at night!"

Mono felt embarrassed, and he promised to remember the lesson. However, he couldn't resist to ask Lucy Lizard where she got her nightlight from. "I made it myself! It's a glow-in-the-dark beetle that I caught, and I carry it with me wherever I go," she said, sounding proud.

Mono immediately felt a mischievous idea brewing in his head. "What if I could catch myself a glow-in-the-dark beetle and show everyone my new trick?" he thought to himself.

He said goodbye to Lucy Lizard and went on his way, with a new mission. As he scurried around the jungle, he finally saw a beetle glowing in the dark. Mono caught it and showed it off to his friends with great enthusiasm. He felt proud of his new trick, but when he woke up the next morning, he realized that the glow-in-the-dark beetle had made his skin glow in the dark too! Instead of looking cool, he looked silly! His friends laughed at him, and Mono felt embarrassed.

Mono learned his lesson – to always be prepared and not to copy others' tricks without thinking about the consequences. He also realized that being different and unique is much better than following the crowd.

From that day on, Mono carried a flashlight with him, and he never got lost in the dark again. He also appreciated the wisdom and advice of Lucy Lizard and looked up to her as a role model.
