Double the Love: The Tale of the Baby Elephant Twins
and Mrs. Giraffe, and a mischievous monkey.
Once upon a time in the jungle, there was a baby elephant and his twin. They were happy living with their mum, who loved and cared for them dearly. One day, while mum was away getting food for her babies, a mischievous monkey came to play with the twins.
The monkey looked at the twins and said, "Oh, you both look the same, and I can't tell who is who!" The baby elephant got cross and said, "We are not the same! I am bigger and stronger." The monkey giggled and said, "I have a way to tell who is who; let me paint a red dot on one of you, and then I can tell who is who."
The baby elephants agreed, and the monkey painted a red dot on one of them. But then he ran away before mum came back. When mum returned, she looked at her twins and was confused. She couldn't tell who was who, as both had the same size and the same colour.
M. and Mrs. Giraffe came to help, but even they couldn't' tell who was who. Then, they noticed the baby elephant with a red dot. But wait! Wasn't he the one who claimed he was bigger and stronger than the other twin? So, they thought that he must be the smaller twin who pretended to be the bigger one.
Mum smiled and said, "Ah, my little ones! I know who is who. I can always tell my babies apart, no matter what anyone else tells me." And she brought the babies close to her and hugged them tightly. "The love that I have for you both is immeasurable, and I can always find a way to tell you apart, even if you both are the same."
The mischievous monkey came back later, and the baby elephants laughed at him. But they forgave him, and the three of them played together, always knowing who was who.
The moral of the story is that a mum's love is unconditional and never-ending. Even if her twins look the same, she could always tell them apart and love them equally. The end.
